Courses that Challenge and Inspire

  • Classics — Build strong language skills while learning to translate original works in Latin & Greek. 
  • Creative Arts — Select from an array of courses in four disciplines: Media Arts, Music, Theater, and Visual Arts. 
  • English — Come to understand the power of language. 
  • Freshmen Seminar VQV Class — Students come to know themselves in this weekly seminar named for our school motto: Vincit qui se vincit (VQV) or "One conquers by conquering oneself."
  • Global Online Academy — Take online classes from around the world through our partnership with the Global Online Academy. 
  • History — Cross time and place with a history curriculum that brings contemporary meaning to past events. 
  • Mathematics — Strengthen your reasoning skills and your ability to manipulate and apply mathematical concepts in upper level courses. 
  • Modern Languages — Speaking a second language is critical in today’s globally-connected world. Options include French, Spanish, and Chinese. 
  • Science — Develop an evidence-based perspective of modern science with our challenging, hands-on science curriculum. 

Getting to the Goal Line: Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from Kingswood Oxford, students must fulfill the following requirements:
  • 4 full-year credits in Upper School English
  • 3 full-year credits in an Upper School lab science
  • 3 full-year credits in Upper School mathematics through Form 5
  • 3 full-year credits in Upper School history through Form 5 (1 year must be U.S. History)
  • 3 consecutive full-year credits in a foreign language (modern or classical)
  • 1 ½ credits in Upper School creative arts
  • 2 ½ credits from other courses (for a total of 20 credits)
  • 30 hours of community service
  • Satisfactory completion of athletic requirement
