We encourage applications from intellectually curious, motivated and well-rounded students throughout Connecticut and western Massachusetts. The Admissions Committee looks for evidence of
1) strong levels of academic achievement, 2) talent and interest in the arts, athletics and/or community service, and 3) indications of leadership in extracurricular activities.
The information below outlines the application checklist. The first round of admissions decisions will be available on March 10. Applicants that complete their application after February 1 will receive decisions on a rolling basis on or after March 10.

Online Application

Middle School applicants (Grades 6, 7, 8) must use the KO online application. There are two options for Upper School applicants (Grades 9, 10, 11). The first is the KO online application and the second is the Standard Application Online, also known as the SAO. We have no preference as to which application you submit. Please choose the application that works best for your family.  The application fee is $55. The international application fee is $100.

The application fee will be charged via credit card at the time of your submission. To access additional application materials through Kingswood Oxford's online portal, you must submit the payment for the application first. Should your family need financial assistance for the application fee please contact our office at 860-727-5000 to request a fee waiver.

List of 6 frequently asked questions.

  • Interview and Campus Visit

As of March 13, 2020 our physical campus is closed, but we continue to meet with students remotely via video conference. Please email us at admissions@kingswoodoxford.org to schedule.

For more information about the interview process, please visit our FAQ page.
  • Testing

Students applying to the Middle School (entering grades 6, 7, 8) must take the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT), a 45-minute reasoning test. Out-of-state Middle School applicants who cannot travel to KO may submit the Middle Level SSAT scores in lieu of the OLSAT.

Students applying to the Upper School (entering grades 9, 10, 11) must take the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) and designate scores to be sent directly to KO. Applicants in grades 10 and 11 may submit PSAT or SAT scores in lieu of the SSAT.

More details on testing can be found here.
  • Recommendations

We require three forms as part of our application process: English recommendation, Math recommendation, and a School Report Form. The two recommendation forms can be accessed and managed online through the Admissions portal and completed by the applicant's current English and Math teachers. The School Report Form also can be accessed and managed online and should be completed by a school official (i.e. Principal, guidance counselor, advisor, or homeroom teacher). Teachers and school officials are invited to submit these forms online through our Admissions portal. Applicants will need the teacher's full name (first and last) and email address to submit this online request.

The Supplemental Recommendation is an optional recommendation form that can be completed by a coach, music instructor, or specific subject-matter teacher. Applicants may ask one person to complete a Supplemental Recommendation.
  • Transcripts

The Transcript Release Form, which can be accessed and managed through the Admissions portal, should be completed by a school official (i.e. Principal, guidance counselor, advisor, or homeroom teacher). Transcripts containing the most up to date grades from the current year and final grades from the previous two years should be sent directly from the school official.  Transcripts may be uploaded online if your student is using the SAO. Transcripts may be emailed to admissions@kingswoodoxford.org, mailed or faxed to (860) 236-3651 or mailed to:
