The final contest of the season for JV baseball began in a scoreless pitchers’ duel that was broken in the bottom of the fourth inning when Colton Bowes ’27 singled home Colton Bischoff ’26. Alert baserunning by Bowes, John Sokale ’27, and Luciano Ayala ’27 allowed two more Wyvern runs to come home to extend the lead to 3-0. Ryan Munz ’26 toed the rubber in relief after four shutout innings from Cole Keegan ’27. Munz pitched a scoreless fifth inning but untimely hits and errors allowed two runs to score in the sixth, making it a one-run game. Luciano Ayala came into the game in the top of the seventh to close it out, but the Hilltoppers rallied to score one run and would have scored a second if not for the Wyverns nabbing the go-ahead run at the plate. With the game tied in the bottom of the final inning, Ayala was hit by a pitch. With one out, he stole both second base and third base, putting Lucas Wells ’26 in a perfect position. Wells capitalized, hitting a single to right field and ending the campaign in walk-off fashion.
