Basketball – Boys JV vs Westminster School – Home

Win 48-33

Kicking off the winter season in the home opener against the Westminster School, Kingswood Oxford triumphed 48-33 at the finish. The first half was a crisp, decisive, pull ahead. Within five minutes, the Wyverns gained a 12 point lead over the Martlets, and Sebastian Cote ’27 led the charge with over half of the advance’s points. Tyler Bergquist ’27 dominated defensive positioning under the net and Xavier Hernandez-Newton ’27 proved to be a clutch player inside the three point line. The first half was marked by strong drives and big stops as our Wyverns found their footing in this debut game. Refocused and revitalized after halftime, our team struggled to pace themselves and commit to smart movement of the ball; the second half started off with an uneasy 10-point run by the Martlets. After a timeout called by Coach Walker, the team took the opportunity to press hard and break the momentum. Honorable mentions to Ben LaFreniere ’25 and Adnan Murphy ’25 for taking the wind out Westminster’s sails with lockdown defense. As the Wyverns pulled ahead once again, every player on the roster saw the court and touched the ball. What an outstanding start to a season, one down twelve to go. In our next game, the Wyverns will square off against Taft at home after the new year…go KO!
