Basketball – Girls MS B vs Renbrook School – Away
Girls MS B Basketball
The Girls B Team traveled to Renbrook for their final game and earned their first win of the season. Even without KO spectators and fans; it was quite an exciting game. Fast breaks, steals, rebounds, and excellent lay-ups abounded. Ellie Gardner led the team under the basket with rebounds and was the top scorer with 14 points. Taylor Benevidas added 6 points as her outside jump shots hit the mark, and Coco Ma’s first 3-point shot is in the KO record books! The entire KO team showed improved defensive skills as they expertly shut down Renbrook’s offense with their tenacious man-to-man defense, and worked as a team to support each other on the court. KO’s offensive game relied on the defensive steals of Kenlee Gardner and Victoria Concepcion that led to fastbreak points, as well as the strong ball-handling skills of our guards and quick cuts and moves to the basket by the entire team. In Reese Yanagi’s first game for KO, her ball-handling skills and rebounding skills made her a threat on the court, while Saaya Maru made some key passes on offense that led to points. Coach Tomkiel and I are so proud of the improvement and camaraderie of the entire team. We have enjoyed coaching this group of athletes; they are both fun and hard-working. We honor and celebrate our 8th-graders, and look forward to seeing them on the courts in high school. Thank you; Riley Anderson, Marlee Diana, Victoria Concepcion, Reese Yanagi, and Ellie Gardner!
