B Girls Basketball

In their first game of the season, the Kingswood Oxford Wyverns came out strong against a more experienced Renbrook team. Both teams were excited to be on the court after winter break, learning the game. The Wyvern team ,an Upper Prep team with many athletes new to the game of basketball, proved their mettle as they tried out their new offense, showed strong defense, and learned the rhythm and flow of gameplay. Addie Wenzel ‘32 led our scoring with 5 points, while Casey Salzman ‘32, Julia Balanda ’32, and Sophia Vincent ‘32 each added a basket to our final score. Captains for the game, Julia and Shyna Upadhyay led at the point expertly, moving the ball around to find open players and opportunities. Our forwards and posts, Nyla Webb ‘32, Savannah LaCroix ‘32, and Madeleine Doughtery ‘32 grabbed rebounds and fought hard on defense. While our team could not adjust to the faster ball-handling of their gaurds, we did see much improvement in the 2nd half, matching basket for basket. The wyverns are excited to continue their hard work and growth against Grace Academy next week.
