“What a great day! The girls’ team earned 4th place overall among great competition. They arrived in awe of the beautiful campus and positive vibe that Mr. O’Connell and his family pride themselves on “celebrating the spirit of cross country by bringing the community together to run hard and celebrate a great season together.”  It was an overall very positive day for our athletes with all athletes to the line. Improvements were made in being tough at the start and getting out quickly, not letting anyone pass us on the downhills and uphills, and staying focused in the race. The girls are learning how to set aside their fears and push away distractions by coming together as a team after the course walk, talking about their goals — and it was awesome to see each of them so excited afterwards as they gathered in the gym in our new O’Connell Invitational t-shirts at the awards ceremony with pizza and good cheer. Moving forward, the team will continue to work on developing their mile #2 times and to KICK at the end of each race. We are excited to see the team compete at their next race this Saturday, October 4, 2025 on our home course at the West Hartford reservoir.”
