Field Hockey – Girls Varsity vs Choate Rosemary Hall – Away

Varsity Field Hockey

Kofh finally got a win against one of our biggest competitors Choate.

It was a great win and the feeling and winning streak that we are on is even greater. Choate ended up scoring within the first 8 minutes of the game which woke us up and put us on our toes. We came right back and Arie Lang ‘22 scored off of a beautiful hard shot that flew right into the goal. Arie worked so hard this game to get past Choate and help keep the ball in their end and never gave up.  At this point we were tied 1-1 and kept dominating the game with the ball in their circle the majority of the time. As we pushed forward , so did Choate but that still did not shake us. They had a couple of good plays that allowed them penalty corners but they couldn’t get past the speed of Tori Swanson ‘21 who continues to dominate by stealing the ball and moving it quickly up the field. Abby McLaughlin ‘22 is also another fast midfielder that worked hard to stop them every chance she got. Our goalie Caitlin Budzik’21 played a great game . She was quick on her feet and has worked all week to get ready for this game, it shows and it paid off.  I couldn’t be prouder of Caitlin and how she handles every situation, communicates constantly with her team and gets the job done.  As we moved into the second half of the game and the rain started coming down and Lucia Gomez ‘23 had herself planted in front of the goal waiting for someone to cross the ball so she could tap it in which is exactly what she did. Lu comes to this school for a short period of time before she goes back to Spain. Lu has been a great addition to our team and would love to keep her here for 3 more years but can’t. This team and I will miss her when she’s gone.  Our defense played a hard but great game by keeping Choate at a distance and out of our circle. Keegan McMahon’21 has been doing a great job running things from that end of the field. We rely on Keegan for a lot of things but one huge thing is her ability to drive the ball the entire length of the field which you need great strength and skill for. Other defenders were Cami Forslund ‘21, Margo Dogiewicz ‘21 and Alex Arnold ‘23. Other game standouts were Izzy Burke’21, Issy Rome ‘21, Katharine Doar ‘22, Alyssa Pavano ‘22, Alex D’Addabbo ‘20 and Cici Chagnon ‘21.
