Wyverns Battle Through the Storm
The Kingswood Oxford JV football team opened its season on a cool windy fall afternoon vs the St Luke’s Storm. After a strong defensive start for both teams, the JV wyvern offense got the ground game going. Jack Ouellette ’30 ran the ball with excellent vision and strength, scoring from 3 yards out. After a great 2 point pitch play to Ayden Clarke ’30, the Wyverns lead after 1 quarter 8-0. Defense continued to be strong forcing two early turnovers. Nico Pizzoferrato ’30 intercepted the St Lukes QB on a key 4th down and then the following drive John Adamowicz ’30 burst through the line , made a great tackle, forced a fumble, which was recovered by Vance Perkins ’31. Now in a groove, the offense moved the ball well . Excellent blocking by Benjamin Haffner ’29, Adamowicz ’30, Connor Malinoski ’28, Jace Brett ’28 and Jack Martin ’29, paved the way for another score, this time a 3 yard run by Pizzoferrato ’30. Up 16-0 at half, credit to the JV St Luke’s team for hanging in tough connecting on a 65 yard TD pass to cut the lead 16-6. Pizzoferrato ’29 and the dominant OL took the very next offensive play 70 yards to the house to end any hope of a storm comeback. Final Score 24-6. Defensively Jace Brett ’28 led all with 8 tackles, and Ausin Barrett ’29 recored a great sack in the 2nd half.
