Football – Boys Varsity vs New Hampton School – Away

The Kingswood Oxford Football team traveled to New Hampshire on a cold Saturday Fall afternoon to take on the New Hampton Huskies in the final contest of the 2023 season. As temperatures dipped into the 20s and 10s, the Wyverns started cold. New Hampton seized the momentum early, converting on two trick plays, a blocked punt and an interception to go up 14-0. However, like all year, the Wyverns have proved to be resilient. The Wyvern offensive came to life late in the first quarter when Justin Morle ‘26 broke through the line for a massive 52 yard rush. 4 plays later, Dom DiNuzzo ‘24, punched it in on a 2 yard QB sneak to trail New Hampton 14-6. The teams would then exchange scoring the rest of the half with the offenses making huge plays. Stephen Bailey ‘25 hit Rhandyn Bair ‘24 on two big passing touchdowns 29 yards and 57 yards to give KO 20 pts at the half. New Hampton was equally strong, scoring on a 60 yard pass and 38 yard pass to go to halftime with the lead 26-20. The 2nd half was all defenses, with both teams moving the ball but not scoring. Late in the 4th quarter the Wyverns broke the scoring drought when Bailey hit DJ Biggins ‘26 in the corner of the endzone on a great comeback route. Jordan Cipriano ‘26 hit the massive PAT to give KO the first lead of the day 27-26. The defense did the job the rest of the way. First Bair made the defensive play of the game with a spectacular interception. On the last drive of the game it was the defensive line of Chief Ebana ‘24, Julian Przecioska ‘25, Lex Green ‘26 and Nicklas Chomko ‘26 who won the game with unrelenting pressure. 3 tackles for a loss and a QB hurry finished the game and KO won in thrilling fashion 27-26. The Wyverns now close the 2023 season winning 2 straight and finishing 4-4 on the year.
