Football – Boys Varsity vs St. Luke’s School – Away

The Kingswood Oxford Football Team traveled to New Canaan, CT on a rainy, cold, windy Saturday Afternoon to take on the St. Luke’s Storm. The Wyverns defense started the game holding strong, leaving St. Luke’s scoreless in the first quarter. The Offense however, was unable to capitalize on 2 red zone trips leaving the game 0-0 after 1 quarter. In the 2nd quarter, the offense found some daylight and Nathan Bowes ’24 hit Cameron Thomas ’26 in the back of the endzone for a 9 yard TD score. 2pt Conversion run successful by Bowes ’24 gave the Wyverns an early 8-0 lead. The rest of the half was won by St lukes. After a quick scoring drive to even game 8-8, the Storm executed an onside kick, giving them all the momentum.  Two more scores by St. Luke’s got us to halftime down 20-8.  The Wyverns had no quit, however, down 26-8 late in the 3rd quarter when DJ Biggins ’26  had multiple tremendous plays, highlighted by a 20 yard TD catch.  Dom DiNuzzo’24 had a tremendous catch and run for 52 yards as well getting us to the 1 yard line late in the game.  In the 4th Quarter KO came storming back with Bowes scoring on a 7 yard TD run closing the gap 26-21. However, St Lukes made the play of the game intercepting the ball and taking it back for a touchdown to widen the gap and end the game with the score 34-21.  The Wyverns now 0-2 on the season will be striving for their first win of the year against Austin Prep at Home under the lights at 6:15 pm at Hoffman Turf Field.
