Hewett Day vs Pomfret School – Home

Varsity Volleyball

KOVB came out full throttle against Pomfret in front of an energized Hewett Day crowd.

With strong serving, solid serve receive and defense, and powerful offense by Outside Hitter Sydney Smith, Pomfret had a difficult time getting into an offensive groove–allowing KO to easily win the first set 25-12.  In set two roles reversed as Pomfret came alive on the service line, challenging our serve receive and making it difficult to run a strong offense. As Pomfret’s strong middle hitter found her groove, KO’s defense was put to the test.  With set two easily going to Pomfret, KO showed true determination and competitive spirit to came out strong again in set 3. With KO in the lead 15-8 midway through the set, Pomfret’s offense and serving surged to tie the set up and squeak out the win 25-22.  Set 4 saw Pomfret maintain their momentum from the end of set 3 as they opened a 4 point lead that KO wasn’t able to close. Although the result wasn’t a win for KO, this was an excellent match for KOVB–one that was made all the more exciting and meaningful by the tremendous support of our home fans.  Look for another exciting competitive match this coming Wednesday as KO hosts Worcester Academy for another important league contest for KO.
