Ice Hockey – Varsity vs Greenwich Country Day School – Home

Win 6-3

KO Hosted GCDS this past Friday at the ISCC in Simsbury for Ryan Gordon Hockey NIght. After a hard fought alumni game, the teams took the ice and batted into the 1st period. Greenwich Country day would strike 1st on a forced turnovers in three own end zone and would take the puck end to end to take a 1 -0 lead.

KO would get on the board early in the 2nd period when Colton Bishoff ’26 would find the mesh on a backhand shot, on a pass from Kai Scranton ’28 and would bring the game even at 1-1. From here, the scoring opened up at a frantic pace for the remainder of the period. GCDS would find score four minutes last to go up 2-. KO would counter 32 seconds later when Bishoff ’26 and Scranton ’28 would team up again for a second score by Bischoff. # mins later Greenwich CDS would add a thread goal to go up 3-2. From here, the KO Offense would go into over drive scoring 3 unanswered goals. Scranton would feed Alex Oliveira ’25 on a pinch play from in back of the net. Oliviera’s shot would deflect off the GCDS goaltender and Scranton ’28 came around the opposite side of the ned to bury the puck with 6 mins remaining in the 2nd. 1:50 mins later, Dalton Smith ’26 would go end to end on an attack with Enzo Andrew ’27 on his left wing. Smith ’26 would feed Andrew ’27 for the KO goal and KO taking a 4-3 lead. This Prompted a TO for the GCDS team which momentum clearing going the Wyverns way.

With 3:08 left on the click in Period 2, KO would go on the Powerplay. The 5 man unit of Krish Patel ’26, Dalton Smith ’26. Alex Oliviera ’25, Ryan Munz ’26 and Bishoff ’26 would go to work. KO Would dig a puck out of the corner and push the pock to Oliveira ’25 across to Smith ’26, who would then take the Shot from the Blue line. Munz ’26 would redirect the shot on tip into the GCDS net for the score and Would bring the score to 5-3 KO at the end of the period.

The 3rd period would be a Defensive battle, with no scoring until the last minute when KO would get an open net goal by Mike Denardo ’26 and would bring the score to 6-3 and eventual final. Shane Smith ’26 would net the win for the Wyvern posting 27 saves on 30 shots. Special mention to Bryce Shaller ’29 for playing solidly on Defense. KO Hockey next travels to Rye Country Day this coming Wednesday.
