The KO Varsity Hockey team opened their FAA schedule this past Saturday hoping the King School (Stamford, CT) at the South Windsor Arena. Expectations were high for the Wyvern skaters coming off a win the prior Wednesday over Forman.

King Opened the schooling 7 minutes into the 1st period to put King up 1-0. They would add a 2nd score in the 8th minute. Undeterred, The Wyverns got on the board minutes later when Colton Bischoff ’26 found Dalton Smith ’26 down the right side entering the offensive zone. Smith would get the rebound off his initial shot and bury the puck in the back of the net to bring the score to 2-1. At the 13 minute mark, Hayden Liddy ’27 would draw a cross checking call on the King squad giving KO a power play opportunity. the well rehearsed power play until would find the mesh as Bischoff ’26 would score on a pretty play, assisted by Alex Oliviera ’25 and Dalton Smith’ 26. to bring the score even at 2. King would add an additionally goal with less than a minute left in the 1st and would take a 3-2 lead into the locker room.

The 2nd period proved to be hard fought and didn’t produce much scoring. Ko would earn a 2nd power play on a slashing call by a King Player. The KO Power play unit of Smith ’26, Oliviera ’25, Bishoff ’26, Ryan Munz ’26 & Krish Patel ’26 went to work. Patel ’26 would bury the puck in the net on the back side wing to bring the game even, Assisted by Munz ’26 and Oliver ’25. However, King would respond with a goal of their own before the end of the period to take a 4-3 lead at the 2nd intermission.

The 3rd period was hard fought as well. Neither team would relent another score. KO would pull goalie Shame smith form the cage at the 1:05 mark and add a sixth skater to the offensive effort. Despite the multiple shots and opportunities, King would find the puck with :16 seconds left and score on the KO Empty net. Final score 5-3. Shane Smith ‘ 26 Played well in Goal for KO and would register 23 saves.

Next up Hockey night on 1/5 at the ISCC in Simsbury.
