JV Girls’ Soccer vs Suffield Academy – Away
JV Girls Soccer
The JV Girls soccer team traveled to Suffield Academy Saturday and came away with an impressive 8-0 victory.
The Wyverns took an early lead with forward Miya Scranton finding the back of the net from in the box and center mid Maya Gerrits delivering a powerful kick well outside the 18 that sailed into the upper corner only minutes later. The third goal in the first half was scored by midfielder Samaria Gonzalez whose speed was unmatched as she maneuvered the ball up the field and placed the ball low in the corner.
Halftime saw goalie Sam Almedia replace Yzzy Albert who took the midfield with intensity, quickly moving the ball, impacting numerous plays and eventually being rewarded with a goal if her own. Margaret Miller scored the first of her two goals rebounding a loose ball in the 6 and then soaring a cleared ball off a corner kick past the goalie. Coming off defense, Alex Doering sped up the sidelines as a midfielder and slammed the ball into the goal while Bella Deurloo dribbled the ball past defenders and slipped the ball over the line as a forward. With only seconds left in the game, Kayla Buteroo had the ball racing towards the goal in the box but ran out of time as the whistle blew ending the game before she could get the ball off her foot. The Wyverns celebrate another shutout as they look forward to taking the home field on Wednesday against Kent.
