Middle School Football vs Hopkins School – Home

MS Football

On a beautiful November day, the Middle School Wyvern Football Team hosted the Hopkins School Hilltoppers in West Hartford.

Throughout the game, the Wyverns received contributions from up and down the lineup. In the first half alone, the Wyverns played hard, completed their blocks, and busted out some big plays to score thirty unanswered points. Scores included touchdown runs from Ethan Gingeleskie ’27, Nico Seymour ’27, Connor Budzik ’27 and a touchdown catch from Ben Smith ’27. Smith finished the scoring in the third quarter with a strong 41-yard sweep down the left side of the field. Budzik and Seymor each contributed two two-point conversions and Gingeleskie also contributed with one throughout. On the defensive side of the ball, almost every player on the roster ended the game with a tackle. Andrew St. Clair ’27 and Colton Zahner ’27 swarmed to the ball all afternoon, creating opportunities for nearly every teammate to get on the stat sheet with a tackle. Among the number of Upper Prep players to get a tackle was James Weddles ’29, who took down the tall Hopkins tight end with a textbook open-field tackle. Additionally, the defensive line lived in the offensive backfield, causing three sacks: one each for Teddy Ristaino ’28, Matty Towne ’29, and Jace Brett ’28. Budzik also tallied an interception in the first half. In the end, the Wyverns surrendered just two touchdowns total, both of them coming in the 2nd Half. The Wyverns will travel to New Haven next week for a rematch with the Hopkins Hilltoppers that is sure to be another great game.
