Soccer – Boys MS vs Har-Bur Middle School – Away
KO traveled to Har-Bur to take on a team that is always talented and well coached. It was a perfect weather day for soccer, and the teams were evenly matched. Ultimately, the difference in the game came down to corner kicks. We were able to score 3 of our 4 first half goals on corner kicks, as Connor Morris (Fm2)scored on two of them. The first was a perfectly delivered ball from Sam Golino (Fm1) that Connor was able to one time with a well timed inside of the foot strike out of the air. Morris then scored a second goal on a 25 yd strike, and completed the first half hat trick on a header from a corner kick delivered by Jake Schwartz (Fm1). The 4th goal of the first half was, again, from a corner kick that Schwartz delivered and it was deflected by a Har-Bur defender into the net. Har-Bur got on the board with about 10 minutes to go, and the half ended with a 4-1 lead. Har-Bur put us under significant pressure for the entire second half, and cut the deficit to 4-2 with about 20 minutes to go. KO’s goalie, Jackson Ramsey (Fm2), played well to prevent any other goals, as did the defense anchored by Aaron Anstead (Fm2). Brendan Sills (UP) played well for the 10 minutes he spelled Ramsey at the end of the first half, making a nice save on a drive from the edge of the box. With Jeremiah Moyano (Fm1) controlling play in the center of the field, and Anay Sahu (Fm1) giving his typical strong effort at the central defensive midfield position, KO earned a hard fought 5-2 victory. It has been quite a few years since we last emerged victorious against Har-Bur, and the kids should be proud of their effort. Next up is a home match vs. Wilbraham&Monson.
