Soccer – Boys MS vs Hopkins School – Home
KO Boys Soccer Wins Season Opener
The Boys MS Soccer Team opened its season with a home match against Hopkins on a perfect weather day. We have a nice mix of returning players and new players, and they have all been working hard in practice. The first half saw KO control most of the play, though Hopkins was dangerous in transitions/counterattacks. They had an excellent goal scoring opportunity, but were turned away by our goalie, Prishaan Chokshi. We had some good opportunities in the first 20 minutes, as AJ Garcia nearly scored twice but the strong goaltending and back line of Hopkins denied him. Ultimately, KO got on the board in the final ten minutes as striker Sam Levin scored twice on terrific strikes to put us up 2-0 at the half. We knew that whoever scored first in the second half would be critically important, and fortunately, we were able to get the next goal on a fantastic direct kick by Nico Durao from 20 yards out. The game ended 3-0, as KO’s back line of Will Doering, Jason Jados, Finn Sullivan, and Bennett Shea held firm. Our goalies, Prishaan and Cam Barber, combined to record the shutout. Midfielders Pablo Gonzalez Posada and Nico Durao controlled play throughout the game, managing to distribute the ball as well as to defend effectively. Ultimately, this was a great team effort, as everyone saw time and contributed with great effort and a positive attitude. Congrats to the boys on a fine effort. Our next game is an away match next Wednesday vs. Williston.
