Soccer – Boys Varsity vs Canterbury School – Away

Varsity Boys Soccer v Canterbury

After opening with Loomis Chaffee the Kingswood Oxford boys varsity soccer team played another tough game Tuesday against the Canterbury School and lost 6-2.

The speed of the Saints allowed them to jump out to the lead with two quick goals and the Wyverns were playing catchup the rest of the way.

Despite some chances KO was unable to score in the first half. In the second the Wyverns continued to push and scored two great goals. Co-Captain Ryan Goss ’18 netted KO’s first goal of the season assisted by freshman Colin Ruiz. The second goal came on a header by Nick Traver ’20 assisted by co-captain Will Appleton ’18. That cut the lead to 4-2 but that was as close as the Wyverns could get as the Saints were able to net two more on the counter as KO kept hunting for more goals.

Jackson Wolff ’20, Nicholas Hamzavi ‘20 and Goss played well according to coach Hikmet Aslan.

“We need to fix our defensive individual mistakes, and find the way to not to give up early,” Aslan said. “The game is 90 minutes and we have great players to score goals at any time.”
