Soccer – Boys Varsity vs Marianapolis Preparatory School – Home
Varsity Boys Soccer
Kingswood opened the season strong at home against Marianapolis, earning a 6–2 victory behind an outstanding performance from senior Corey Nguyen. Corey was involved in every goal, scoring twice and assisting on four — including what may be an early candidate for “game of the season.”
We came out sharp and ready to play, striking quickly with goals in the 9th and 10th minutes. Freshman Isaiah Shobola had a standout moment with a great finish for our second goal. Corey then delivered two consecutive corner assists in the 27th and 29th minutes to put us up 4–0 before Marianapolis managed to sneak one in off a missed clear in the box, making it 4–1 at halftime.
The second half saw Kingswood continue to press and score again in the 47th minute, allowing us to rotate in the bench. Another Corey corner found its way into the back of the net in the 81st minute for our sixth goal. Marianapolis capitalized on a small defensive lapse shortly after, ending the match 6–2.
This was a complete team effort, with seniors leading by example and freshmen like Isaiah and Jake making key contributions. The energy, sharpness, and cohesion displayed by the team make this a performance to build on as the season progresses.
