Soccer – Girls JV vs Kent School – Away
JV Girls Soccer
The JV girls soccer team traveled to Kent School on a rainy Monday afternoon and despite the conditions walked away with a 6-1 win.
The Wyverns got off to a good start dominating possession in the Kent half of the field. 7 minutes into the half Natalia Correa ’22 scored off her own dribbling inside the box to put the Wyverns up 1-0. Mid-way through the half Jolie Flash ’23 scored a well executed break away goal by slipping the ball past a charging goalkeeper to put the Wyverns up 2-0. Unfortunately, sloppy play resulted in a Kent goal on their only shot of the half to make the score 2-1. With 2 minutes to play Tess Chapman ’23 scored in the box off a Sloan Duvall ’21 pass and moments later Tess scored again to put the Wyverns up 4-1 at the half. The second half played out much like the first half giving opportunity for many of the inexperienced Wyverns to get a bulk of playing time. Samhita Kashyap ’22 scored a well executed break away 3 minutes into the half off a threw ball by Annabelle Jacobs ’23 and Annabelle scored herself a few minutes later on a well struck ball from outside the 18 yard box to put the wyverns up 6-1. Cai Kuivila ’20 made a crucial diving save late in the half off a shot inside the box to preserve the score. The wyverns will take their 4-2 record on the road Friday at Ethel Walker and Saturday at Pomfret.
