Soccer – Girls JV vs Taft School – Away
Loss 0-2
The JV girls ended the season with a trip to the Taft School. While the team didn’t get the win, the team should be commended for overcoming some challenging obstacles. Several key players were missing for the game and those who were available had to play in unfamiliar positions. In addition, the temperature was barely above freezing and both teams seemed hampered by the cold. Regardless, the teams were evenly matched and traded opportunities in the first half. Sam Almeida was back in net and had a stellar performance. She came off her line confidently and distributed the ball effectively to initiate our attacks. We came close to going ahead late in the first half when Clara Toomey was one-on-one with the Taft goalie, but her shot just drifted wide. The second half was back and forth until a Taft winger unleashed a shot from just outside the box that clipped the top corner. Taft would add a second goal late in the half to seal the win. While disappointing, Bella Deurloo and Emma St. Clair were an excellent duo on the wing. Joella Asapokhai and Ella Chen played valuable minutes at striker and winger respectively.
