Soccer – Girls JV vs Westminster School – Away
JV Girls Soccer
Once again, the jv girls soccer team found themselves playing a difficult opponent shy some important players, yet found a way to tie Westminster 3-3 in a hard fought match on Saturday.
Despite having some good chances to score early in the game the Wyverns found them selves down 1-0 at the half. Poor play to begin the second half allowed Westy to extend their lead to 3-0. The wyverns regrouped as Natalia Correa ’22 scored two back to back goals on breakaways to bring the game to 3-2. The game went back and forth for the remaining 15 minutes as both teams had several chances to score. With 8 minutes to go Remy McCoy’ 20 got taken down in the box in front of the Westy net and Natalia Correa stepped up to bury the penalty kick knotting the game at 3. The last few minutes were frantic as both teams tried to score but ended in a tie. Maeve McDonald ’19 made 12 saves in net and Sophia Kaufman ’20 did a nice job filling in at centerback, which is not her usual position. The Wyverns are 6-0-1 on the season.
