Girls Varsity Soccer With Big Win on Hewett Day
The KO girls’ soccer team turned in a complete performance on both ends of the field today, dictating the pace, creating scoring opportunities, and shutting down Pomfret in a dominant 3–0 victory today on Hewitt Day. KO opened the scoring early in the first half as Mackenzie Cahill intercepted a pass in the midfield and after some adept touches, slotted the ball perfectly to Olivia Adamowicz who was able to put the ball in the goal for a 1-0 lead. 3 minutes later, Olivia crossed the ball from the flank into the box where Ali Hogan was able to cut in front of the defender and deflect it in, increasing the lead to 2-0. KO had multiple opportunities to add to the lead but could not find the back of the net. Just 30 seconds into the second half, Nadia Silmon found Olivia on the right flank who sent a ball toward the goal where Ali was able to hit it one time hitting the crossbar but collecting her own rebound and sending it in for a 3-0 lead. KO dominated play from there but did not add to their lead. Both goalkeepers, Lizzie Raccio and Penelope Ahern only had 2 saves each as the defense was incredible today. Giuliana Fuzzard, Gianna Guerrera, Analeigh Sayesith, Ari Salek, and Emy Guardenier handled the Pomfret attack with great defending and physicality. Naya DeMelo controlled midfield in the attack and when defending in probably her best game of her KO career. KO girls improve their record to 4-2-3 and next plays Founders League powerhouse Choate at home on Wednesday.
