Soccer – Girls Varsity vs Rye Country Day School – Home
Varsity Girls Soccer
The KO girls were badly in need of a win today as they took on Rye Country Day School. KO dominated play from the beginning but as in the last game had difficulty finding the back of the net. However, at the 15 minute mark, Naomi Diffenderfer crossed the ball from the flank and found Serena Zhou in front of the net and her accurate shot put KO up 1-0. Less than 2 minutes later, Taylor Caldwell passed the ball from the back and found Nadia Silmon who was able to beat the defender and hammer home KO’s second goal. KO finished the scoring in the first half when Gianna Guerrera flighted a long, diagonal ball which Naomi Diffenderfer corralled and beautifully placed the ball in the upper corner. KO’s defense consisting of Taylor Caldwell, Arianna Salek, Gianna Guerrera, Giuliana Fuzzard, and GK Lizzie Raccio made the lead hold up as KO won 3-0. Loren Roca, Olivia Adamawicz, Mackenzie Cahill, and Naya DeMelo did well controlling play in he midfield. KO next plays Greenwich Country Day School on Saturday. KO has now doubled their win total from last year and hopes to add to this over the last 3 games. This is a great feat for this very young team.
