KO Varsity Girls Play to a 2-2 Draw with St. Luke’s
The KO girls played St. Luke’s today in a non-league match in West Hartford. KO came out and dominated play, maintaining possession and creating many chances. Finally at the 20 minute mark, Olivia Adamowicz found Ali Hogan at the top of the box and after beating a defender, Ali drove the ball over the goalkeeper and just under the crossbar giving KO a 1-0 lead. During the last 10 minutes of the half, St. Luke was able to take advantage of 2 misplays in the back and scored twice giving them a 2-1 lead heading into halftime. As the second half started, it was evident that KO had the energy and willingness to challenge every play in hopes of tying the score. After some missed chances, Ali Hogan equaled the score 2-2 finding the back of the net after a prefect pass from Naya DeMelo. These were Ali’s first 2 goals of her KO career. Despite holding possession for the last 20 minutes of the game, KO could not add another goal to get the win. KO remains undefeated this season with 2 ties. The back 4 of Giuliana Fuzzard, Gianna Guerrera, Analeigh Sayesith, and Ari Salek were outstanding the whole game. St. Luke was unable to get a shot on goal the entire second half. Mackenzie Cahill, Nadia Silmon, Naya DeMelo, and Sofia Guerrera were strong in the midfield. Maliyah Douglas and Sidney St. Clair were very active up front, creating problems for the St. Luke defense. Goalkeepers Lizzie Raccio and Penelope Ahern were solid in net. KO has a tough week ahead playing defending NEPSAC Class A champion Miss Porters and NEPSAC Class B runner up Williston. but will be preapred to battle both teams.
