KO vs WMA
The KO girls opened the 2026 season with a home game against Wilbraham and Monson Academy (WMA). KO came out strong, controlling possession and creating multiple opportunities. 14 minutes into the game, Naya DeMelo struck a corner kick in the direction of Nadia Silmon who was able to collect the ball and score giving KO a 1-0 lead early. That goal seemed to wake up WMA as they challenged more and began to create their own goal chances. However KO’s defense consisting of Analeigh Sayesith, Gianna Guerrera, Giuliana Fuzzard, and Emeline Guardenier were able to keep WMA off the board with great defensive play. KO opened the second half holding play often allowing for dangerous possession in the attacking third but could not find the back of the net. WMA was able to create one dangerous chance in the second half and thanks to an unlucky bounce off a deflection, was able to tie the score 1-1. Despite outshooting WMA 12-5 during the game, KO was unable to find the winning goal. A header by Maliyah Douglas off a corner kick went just wide in the closing seconds clinching a 1-1 tie. Olivia Adamowicz, Mackenzie Cahill, Ali Hogan, Ari Salek, and both goalkeepers Lizzie Raccio and Penelope Ahern played strong for the Wyverns. KO will host St. Luke this Friday where they hope to get into the win column.
