KO Varsity Girls Soccer Wins at Williston

The KO girls traveled to Easthampton, MA to battle Class B 2025 NEPSAC finalist, Williston. The game started fast with both teams trying to test the defenses via direct attacks, especially Williston as they tried to take advantage of the strong wind at their back. However, KO calmed down and started to gain more possession culminating in the first goal of the game at the 14 minute mark. Freshman Ali Hogan was able to control a throw in, beat a defender at the top of the box and slide a ball to Senior Captain Maliyah Douglas who deftly beat the goalkeeper far post to give KO a 1-0 lead. KO had 2 other good opportunities to score due to the outstanding play of the midfielders Naya DeMelo, Mackezie Cahill, Sofia Guerrera, and Eliana Beakal but Williston’s GK kept the ball out of the net. KO goalkeeper Liz Raccio secured 2 saves in the first half to allow KO maintain a 1-0 lead. The second half consisted of a lot of play in between the 18 yard boxes with some direct attacks by both teams but Williston was not able to create any dangerous opportunities at goal due to the impenetrable back line–Gianna Guerrera, Analeigh Sayaith, Giuliana Fuzzard, and Nadia Silmon. Penelope Ahern only needed to make 1 save in the second half–she combined with Lizz Raccio with KO’s first clean sheet of the season. Sydney St. Clair and Olivia Adamowicz also played very well up front, pressuring defenders and coming up with multiple 1v1 wins. KO evened their record to 1-1-2 and next travel to Canterbury on Wednesday.
