Varsity Girls Squash
The KO Girls Varsity Squash team had an exciting win against Canterbury 6-1, with 4 of the individual matches going the distance in 5 games. Co-captain Lia Prahl ’26 had an exceptional performance, taking control from the service box and capitalizing on loose shots to put the ball away in the front and middle of the court (3-0). In the no. 1 spot, Valerie Perkins ’29 was ready to control the pace of the match with precise drives along the side walls, upping the intensity when needed and stretching her opponent’s court coverage (3-1). In the no. 2 spot, Clara Toomey ’27 took advantage of wide, cross court setup shots to end points on the volley (3-1). In the no. 3 spot, co-captain Sanya Sadiq ’26 had a battle for the middle of the court, cutting off her opponent’s shots with volleys and impressive pickups, narrowly losing out the close contest (1-3). Noa Taback ’28 and Riya Sekaran ’28 in the no. 11 and 9 spots used height on the front wall to pressure their opponents into full-court rallies, showcasing the time they’ve put into making their drives more and more threatening. Aliza Rashid ’27 used fantastic serving and killer volleys to take control of the points quickly and pull off a solid win in the no. 9 spot. Ava Patel ’28 had a back-and-fourth contest in the no. 8 spot, taking the match to 5 games with soaring cross courts and precise shot selection. Vyshnavi Setru ’30, Racheal Segal ’28, and Nina Mattamana ’30 all took their matches to 5 games, as well, showing their determination and composure as they navigated initial deficits in the final games, only to hold on and serve out the matches 3-2. The individual matches were very close and altogether it was a great experience for the Wyverns to test their skills under pressure. Let’s go KOSQ!
