Squash – Girls Varsity vs Ethel Walker School – Away

Varsity Girls Squash

The KO Girls Varsity Squash team secured our first win of the season at Ethel Walker, stringing together some spectacular performances that showed great promise for this early part of the season. Valerie Perkins ’29 showed calm, cool, collected dominance in the no. 1 spot, taking time to precisely crush her drives into the back corners. In their first official varsity matches, Ava Patel ’28 produced a solid win hinging on the placement of her deep shots and cross courts in the no. 7 spot, and Riya Sekaran ’28 fought back from a 1-0 deficit to storm into the later games and win 3-1 in the no. 8 spot, sharpening her forehand and backhand straight drives more and more as she went through the match. Co-captain Lia Prahl ’26 was ready with devastating low kill shots and difficult angles that allowed her to take control of the points regardless of where she was on the court. Nina Mattamana ’30 had a hard fought battle in the no. 4 spot, using cross-court volley kills and patient straight drives to inch ahead in the moments when it mattered most. It was a great performance up and down the ladder!
