Squash – Girls Varsity vs Millbrook School – Away

In the first match of the new year, the KO Varsity Girls Squash team lost 5-2 to Millbrook on the road. With some injuries impacting the lineup, the bottom half of KO’s ladder really stepped up their game to play up against experienced opponents. In the no. 4 spot, Lia Prahl ‘26 had steady improvement in her shot selection and depth of shots over the course of the match. In the no. 3 spot, Ella Chen ‘25 battled against tough serves from the opponent to dig into the points and showcased her more and more precise backhand drives. In the no. 5 spot, Sanya Sadiq ‘26 pressured her opponent with wide serves that died in the back of the court and high, deep forehand attacks. In the no. 6 and 7 spots, Alyssa Tousignant ‘25 and Avery Hersh ‘24 constructed complicated points and chased down every shot to produce highly contested showdowns against the other players. In the no. 8 and 9 spots, stepping up from JV, Racheal Segal ‘28 and Cindy Fei ‘26 demonstrated their ability to control the points with well-placed straight drives and deep cross courts. At the top of the ladder, Ava Marseglia ‘26 had a solid 3-0 win in the no. 1 spot, keeping patient through the longer points and taking good advantage of offensive opportunities in the front of the court. Valerie Perkins ‘29 had similar success in the no. 2 spot, winning 3-0 with measured and relentless drives to the back corners of the court. Many Wyverns played extra matches to make up for some absences on the JV team, so it was a great opportunity to get more matchplay in against a variety of opponents. We look forward to taking the successes of this match with us as we get ready for the long Jan-Feb stretch of the season!
