Tennis – Boys Varsity vs Cheshire Academy – Away

We traveled to Cheshire for a makeup match from midseason postponement. Down our #1 player, everybody stepped up admirably against a solid Cheshire squad. The doubles was closely contested, with the all three at either 4-3 or 3-2 until KO went on a run in each of the prosets to secure the point. Going into singles, all of the guys stepped up against opponents who were both hard hitting and playing with great energy on their senior day. Ultimately, we secured straight set wins at 1, 3, 5, and 6 (Blair, Reddy, Barash, and Sadowsky). At #5, senior Saahit Gaddipati earned a win with a back and forth 11-9 supertiebreaker. At #2 singles, Isaiah Shobola and his opponent were in a marathon match that did not even complete the second set by the time all of the other matches had finished. It was after 7:00 and the match was pulled with Shobola holding on to a 5-4 lead in the 2nd set. It was a great match, as both guys played well and were evenly matched. Next up is our regular season finale against a talented Salisbury team at their place.
