Tennis – Boys Varsity vs Hopkins School – Away
Varsity Boys Tennis
We traveled to New Haven to take on Hopkins, who always fields a strong team. It was a very windy day, and both teams handled the tough conditions well. Despite a dominating win at #1 doubles (Concepcion and Blair) by a score of 8-1, we lost the doubles points as Hopkins earned convincing wins at #2 and 3 by scores of 8-1 and 8-4 respectively. At #1 singles, Ciaran Concepcion played well but ultimately fell in straight sets to a highly ranked player. Pratt Blair won at 2 singles, after his opponent retired with an an injury after Blair won the first set 6-1. At #4 and 6 singles, Neil Reddy and Noah Sadowsky each pushed their opponents to a 3rd set supertiebreaker, but each lost close breakers. At #3 and # 5, Isaiah Shobola and Saahit Gaddipati played hard but ultimately fell in straight sets. The 6-1 score was a bit deceptive, as the match had a much closer feel. Nonetheless, we made Hopkins earn a hard fought victory.
