Tennis – Boys Varsity vs Salisbury School – Away

We traveled to Salisbury for our season finale against a talented Salisbury squad. The two teams have been evenly matched for the past few years, so we knew that this would be a tightly contested match. That is exactly what happened, as the final score (4-1) is misleading. The doubles point went our way, as Ciaran Concepcion and Pratt Blair played quite well en route to an 8-3 win at #1 doubles. At #3, Logan Barash and Saahit Gaddipati came back from an early deficit to pull away 8-5. At #2 doubles, Isaiah Shobola and Neil Reddy were down 6-7 when the match was pulled. Then the rain started, forcing us indoors into Salisbury’s nice new indoor facility with 3 courts. The 4, 5, and 6 matches went out, and Salisbury got on the board with an impressive 7-5, 6-2 over Gaddipati. At # 4, Neil Reddy played a terrific first set only to see his opponent play an equally impressive second set, setting up a third set supertiebreaker. It was a lengthy, back and forth breaker that ultimately ended in a 14-12 victory for Reddy. Two courts away, KO’s Noah Sadowsky dropped the first set 6-4, and then battled back to win the 2nd set in a tiebreaker (10-8). After falling behind 8-3 in the supertiebreaker, Noah stormed back to earn an exciting 11-9 victory. The final three matches were the 1, 2, and 3. KO’s Pratt Blair finished his Southern New England Tennis league season with an undefeated record with a hard fought 6-1, 6-4 victory. This clinched the match, and seeing that it was already passed 7:00 pm, we stopped Ciaran’s and Isaiah’s match with Ciaran up a set (7-5) and Isaiah leading 5-2. Both teams played with great energy and sportsmanship. It was a late night, and the boys look forward to a bid to the NEPSAC Class B tournament this weekend.
