Tennis – Boys Varsity vs Westminster School – Home

Varsity Boys Tennis

On Monday afternoon, we hosted Westminster for a match that did not start until 4:30, which meant that it would be a late day.

The final score was quite deceptive, as it was a much closer match than the final score indicates. The doubles point was earned with wins at all three doubles, but  the matches at #2 and #3 doubles
were close and by no means assured. Two of the singles matches (#2 and #5) were nip and tuck and could have gone either way. At #2, William Appleton won 6-4, 7-6 vs. a talented opponent (Ethan Na) whose shot making ability from different angles is impressive. At # 5, Avi Shastri dropped the first set, and had to claw back to win the second set and then won a 3rd set super tiebreaker. KO’s Luke Riemann had a strong day, playing well at both #1 doubles and #1 singles. His singles opponent (Azat Mukhametkulov) is a strong player, and Luke played very well to earn a straight sets win. At #3 , KO’s Adam Na won in straight sets, continuing his run of fine play. Max-William Kanz also continued his winning ways, earning a straight sets win at #4 singles. Senior Nat Bates fought hard, but fell in straight sets at #6 in a match that featured exciting points and even better sportsmanship from both players.
