Tennis – MS vs Rectory School – Away

MS Tennis

The 2019 MS tennis team is young and for many players, the match away at The Rectory School was their first time competing.

That being said, despite some early nerves, everyone battled hard from start to finish. KO lost the match 4-6 but there were some excellent comeback “almost wins” by Patrick Kinney and Ethan Leshem. Hallie Braunstein and Will Jacobs won in the number 3 and 5 slots playing with good consistency despite very windy conditions. Our new number one player, Caitlin Dale had a tough match against a seasoned 9th grader and learned a lot of great lessons about the necessity to get the first 3 shots of any point into play. Ignacio Feged competed hard but came up short with a 3-8 loss but almost all games went to sudden death. In the 7 singles spot newcomer, Jacob Joseph won his first match ever and had a blast doing it!

Doubles pairings sometimes take a little while to gel but our number three team of Upper Preppers, Jack Krieble and Finn Boyd worked well together and came away with a victory. Although we lost at number 1, Jaden Smith and Finn Zeytoonian and number 2, Sattah Phouthakoun and Charlie Simmons, both teams showed great promise in developing their communication skills and doubles strategies.

Next week we hit the road again with a match against Hamden Hall.
