Volleyball – Girls Varsity vs Ethel Walker School – Away
V Volleyball
The KO Girls Varsity Volleyball team added another solid win to their streak in an impressive showing against Ethel Walker School (25-12, 25-17, 25-6).
The first set showed back-and-forth streaks of points between the two teams, but some careful, pinpoint serving from Allie Arcaro ‘24 helped secure the lead for the Wyverns in the middle of the set. Lindsay Bailey ‘22 had her arsenal of tips, pushes, and pulverized hits from the middle and did a great job of energizing the KO offense. Naomi Wong ‘22 brought deep hitting from the right side, and Ava Cashman ‘24, in what is becoming a welcome pattern, served us out of the set with another nearly double digit service run. In the second set, the Wyverns developed an early lead, which the opponent eventually closed in on. KO’s set-winning response was led by immaculate setting from Jill Plaut ‘23, great hitting angles found by Quin Kearney ‘23 on the right side and Jillian Alexander ‘24 in the middle, and a run of devastating serves from co-captain Mackenzie Caruso ‘22. The third set demonstrated the Wyvern’s consistency, and an early lead proved to be unstoppable, especially with the relentless outside hitting of co-captain Keira Sullivan ‘23 in full force, the crafty offensive adjustments made by Hailey Williams ‘23, also on the outside, and the all-around defensive solidity of Avi Lohr ‘24. Every player was dialed in to the match, and we were able to ride the offensive waves that were built up at the beginning of each set, despite valiant efforts and adjustments from the opponent.
We look forward to playing in our home gym once again on Saturday 10/2 against Suffield!
