Volleyball – Girls Varsity vs King – Home
The KO Varsity Volleyball team had a 3-0 loss to King after building up some good momentum in the middle of the game. In the first set, King had strong and consistent serving that took the Wyverns a bit to get used to, but eventually co-captain Allie Arcaro ‘24 took charge in the back row and got the team’s smooth serve-receive passes going. Alexis Nisyrios ‘27 had some great aggressive tips and hits in the middle, and was ready to put the pressure on the opponent’s hitters. On the service line, co-captain Jillian Alexander ‘24 was calm and collected enough to consistently send the ball careening into the opponent’s court and to recharge KO’s offense. After a difficult first set, the Wyverns came back with vengeance, starting with Lola Peck ‘26 and Chloe Delaire ‘27 finding creative ways to put the ball away in the middle, and with co-captain Ava Cashman ‘24 sending Lila Klinzmann ‘27’s soaring sets across the net at all angles. KO was well defended in the back row by Cici Freeman ‘24, Francesca Lamattina ‘25, and Arcaro, all of whom used measured serve receive to convert to offensive plays. Alex Segal ‘25 smashed, low, pinpointed serves across the net, and followed up with effective aggressive plays at the net on the outside. The Wyverns really fought back in the second set and showed their mettle. In the third set, both teams had their ups and downs, with the Wyverns ultimately playing a bit more conservatively against more aggressive offense from King. KO showed great progress over the course of the game, but unfortunately the opponent took the third set. We look forward to playing our Dig Pink game, raising money in support of the Side Out Foundation and breast cancer research, at home against Williston Northampton on 10/11.
