After a strong start on the mound in the season opener, Kingswood Oxford varsity baseball pitcher Nick Cannata ‘20 is the Wyvern of the Week.
Cannata said that the team had a great preseason in Florida, winning three games, and that momentum carried over into the start of the 2019 season. Cannatastarted on the mound against Westminster and dominated the Martlets lineup, striking out 10 in 3 1/3 innings.
“We got back from Florida and we started off strong against Westminster,” Cannata said. “On the mound I had a great day and offensively I had a lot of support. We are excited about the win and ready for the rest of the season.”
When not pitching, Cannata usually plays in the infield. He is hoping the season is full of a lot more games like the one against Westminster.
“Personally I want to have fun this year with the team and pull out as many wins as possible,” Cannata said.
