On a Positive Note: The Wyvern Invitational A Cappella Festival

This year's Wyvern Invitational A Cappella Festival (WIAF) featured 180 performers from 11 choirs from nine independent and public schools competing for the top prizes including: KO (Oxfordians & Crimson 7), Kent School (Kentones & Kentettes), Cromwell High School (No Rest Zone), Ethel Walker School (The Grapes), Fairfield Ludlowe High School (Close Harmony), Wheeler School (18 Wheelers), Hall High School (A Cafella), Miss Porter's School(Perilhettes), and Bristol High School (Strawberry Fields)

The Kingswood Oxford choirs showcased both new and veteran singers on the Roberts Theater stage. Crimson 7 had eight new members compete in the WIAF for the first time as well as seven returning singers. Oxfordians had six new members and 10 returning singers. Henry Mandell '21 and Matthew Marottolo '20 were the featured soloists for "I Want You Back" and James Ravalese '20 sang the solo for "Flaws" by Bastille. Both Rohan Naik '20 and Mandell '21 took over the vocal percussion on Crimson 7's two songs. For the Oxfordians, Olivia Coxon '19, Remy McCoy '20, and Emma-Kate Johansen '19 were all featured soloists. Sophia Kaufman '20 was our first female Beat Boxer (Girl Power).

The event ran smoothly thanks to the 30+ volunteers from the KO community.
