Two KO Students Earn WALKS Essay Honors

Ethan Pinkes ’20 and Jaden DiMauro ’20 represented Kingswood Oxford as this year's WALKS Constitutional Essay contest participants. Pinkes was first runner-up and DiMauro was second runner-up.

Every year, each member school (Westminster, Avon Old Farms, Loomis Chaffee, KO, and Suffield) selects two essay writers to submit to the overall contest which is appraised by an external authority selected by the host school on a rotating basis.  Loomis Chaffee hosted the event this year on Tuesday, April 30, and Felix Springer, a former trial partner at Day Pitney, LLP judged the students' submissions.  This year's winner attends Suffield Academy while Pinkes was first runner-up and DiMauro was second runner-up.

The students researched and wrote on the following topic: "How have U.S. citizens without legal voting rights engaged in the political process since 1787? Consider no more than three of the following factors in your response: age, class, criminal status, gender, and race."
