The Kingswood Oxford varsity boys tennis team posted an impressive victory over Westminster and battled an undefeated Cheshire Academy squad in its most recent matches.
The Wyverns went on the road and knocked off Westminster 6-1 on Monday. KO earned the doubles point, as Luke Riemann and Adam Sonntag won 8-3 at #1 doubles, followed by Adam Na and Max-William Kanz winning at #2, and at #3 doubles Teddy Keegan and Jacob Schwartz continued their winning ways.
KO earned wins at each of the singles spots, with the exception of an injury at #5 singles when Avi Shastri rolled his ankle and had to retire. Riemann, Sonntag, Na, Kanz, and Schwartz each won hard fought matches.
KO hosted an undefeated Cheshire Academy team on Saturday and played an inspired match but came up a bit short, 5-2.
The highlight was a hard earned doubles point, as KO's Luke Riemann and Adam Sonntag beat the previously undefeated Cheshire #1 doubles team by a score of 8-6. Jacob Schwartz and Teddy Keegan won at #3 doubles to clinch the doubles point.
KO fought hard in the singles, and earned a win at #6 with Jacob Schwartz winning in straight sets. We also lost a tough three set match at #4 singles, as Avi Shastri lost in a 3rd set tiebreaker.
The Wyverns are back in action Friday when they host Avon Old Farms. Kingswood Oxford then meets Hotchkiss on Saturday in a Senior Day matchup.
