KO Student Raises $6,000 for Cancer Prevention

“Cancer is not an unfamiliar word in my family. I wanted to do something and created the idea for “Cars Against Colon Cancer”, a car show held at Kingswood Oxford to raise awareness for colon cancer prevention and help support the mission of the American Cancer Society,” commented Benjamin Coady ’17.  Coady raised $6000 this year.

Coady’s success could not have been possible without the overwhelming support of the Kingswood Oxford community. New Country Mercedes Benz of Hartford's General Manager Steven Dunham contributed to the cause by donating water and snacks to sell and by bringing cars to display. Mr. Dunham is Coady's first corporate sponsor and has participated in all of his car shows. In addition to the cars from New Country Mercedes Benz, the car show featured a Ferrari/Aston Martin from Miller Motor Cars of Greenwich, a Pagani, La Ferrari, 911 Porsche, a Lamborghini Aventador SV, a Jaguar XJS 1994, all from private owners. Data-Mail donated the posters so Coady could advertise the event around town. Jane Dee from the Hartford Courant posted Cars Against Colon Cancer in the newspaper's Car Calendar. Nearly 40 cars were on site with a combined value of over $10 million.
