Alumni Basketball Player Delivers Historic Performance

Temple University’s Gavin Griffiths, Class of 2023, was named the American Conference and Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week for the week ending January 5, 2026, after averaging 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.5 blocks in two wins, including a historic performance against UTSA where he had 23 points, 7 blocks, and 6 three-pointers, becoming the first NCAA Division I player in 30+ years with that stat line, as reported by the American Conference and Temple Owls. He followed that up by scoring 24 points in a win over East Carolina, according to the Caledonian Record.
