College Athletes Doing Big Things

Three graduates of Kingswood Oxford’s Class of 2021 are making their marks early on in their college athletic careers.

Ronan Dillow, a forward on the number one ranked Georgetown University’s men’s soccer team, scored his first college career goal and the first goal of Georgetown’s season opener versus UC Irvine on August 27 in the 50th minute of the game. The Hoyas went on to win 2-1. Dillow followed his father and KO Head of School’s Tom Dillow’s athletic path to Georgetown where the senior Dillow played on the soccer team from 1989-1992 and was one of the top scorers in the team’s history.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps running back Justin Edwards was named the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week in late September and was chosen to the D3football.com National Team of the Week on September 28. The Stag won the awards after a big 29-21 win over nationally-ranked Chapman on September 25. Edwards carried the ball 32 times for 204 yards and four touchdowns.

Sydney Smith is having an awesome season on Wesleyan University women’s volleyball team. Her season highs include 17 kills and 17 points versus Endicott on October 7 and two assists and five digs against Middlebury on October 8. In the winter season, the six-foot Smith will be competing on the women’s squash team.
