Founders Leagues Names KO Basketball Coach “Coach of the Year”
Kingswood Oxford varsity boys basketball coach Brad Seaman has been named Founders League Coach of the Year following a standout 22–5 season that showcased both competitive success and strong team culture.
Seaman has steadily built a team defined not only by wins, but by discipline, resilience, and a clear sense of purpose. “This group really bought in,” Seaman said. “They competed every day, and they understood what it meant to be part of something bigger than themselves.”
Seaman’s path to coaching came full circle. A lifelong basketball player who once played under his father, he went on to compete at the collegiate level before returning to the game on the sidelines. That experience continues to shape his approach today.
At the core of his philosophy is a focus on development over external pressure. “In today’s environment, there’s a lot of noise—rankings, expectations, social media,” Seaman said. “We’re looking for players who love the game, who want to get better, and who are in it for the right reasons.”

That mindset translated directly to the court this winter. The Wyverns played with pace and intensity, emphasizing effort and execution. Seaman’s message to his team is consistent: play hard, play fast, play smart—and enjoy the process.
He also reinforces a broader perspective on competition. “Losing isn’t about the score,” he said. “If you compete and do the right things, the results will take care of themselves.”
Throughout the season, Seaman emphasized accountability and growth. After games, players were encouraged to reflect—identifying what they did well and where they could improve—before turning their focus to the next opportunity. Leadership, too, is a shared responsibility within the program. Seaman stresses that leadership comes in many forms, whether vocal or through consistent effort, and that every player has a role in shaping the team’s success.
Off the court, team-building has remained a priority. Activities throughout the season, from attending college games to team traditions, help strengthen connections and foster camaraderie. The results speak for themselves. Along with a 22–5 record, the program continues to produce college-level athletes across all divisions and, in recent years, has seen players advance to the professional level in Europe.
Still, Seaman measures success in broader terms. “Sports teach you how to handle adversity, how to work within a team, and how to grow,” he said. “Those are lessons that go far beyond basketball.” With a Coach of the Year honor and one of the program’s strongest seasons to date, Seaman’s impact continues to be felt across Kingswood Oxford athletics both in the standings and in the lives of his players.
