KO appoints New CFOO and Advancement Director
Kingswood Oxford announced two appointments to the Senior Administrative Team that will help ensure the continued strength and success of the school.
Following highly competitive national searches, we have appointed Brett Carroll as our next Chief Financial and Operating Officer and Sean Meehan as our next Director of Advancement.
These appointments represent a positive step forward for KO. Brett and Sean bring deep expertise, proven leadership, and a shared commitment to mission-driven work. Together, they will play key roles in advancing our strategic priorities, strengthening our operations, and supporting the school’s long-term sustainability.
Brett is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Master of Science in Management from the University of Hartford and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut. He brings more than 30 years of financial and operational leadership experience across higher education and independent schools. Most recently, he served as vice president of finance and administration at Elms College, where he oversaw finance and administrative functions and helped guide long-term
institutional planning. Earlier in his career, Brett served as vice president for finance and CFO at Mercy University in New York, where he managed a complex organization with a $200M+ operating budget. His experience also includes prior work at the University of Hartford and The Taft School. “I believe effective financial leadership,” he said, “requires analytical rigor, but also clear communication and a deep respect for institutional mission and values.” Known for his collaborative leadership style and strategic approach, Brett will be a valuable partner as we continue to build a strong foundation for KO’s future.
Sean joins us with nearly 15 years of advancement experience in higher education and nonprofit organizations, most recently as associate vice president for development at the University of Hartford. A former KO Middle School student and a graduate of Trinity College, Sean has been a community builder and active volunteer in the greater Hartford area for many years. He
combines a strong record of fundraising success with a genuine appreciation for the transformative impact of independent school education. Of his KO experience, Sean said, “During my time as a student, I appreciated being surrounded by a talented and diverse community that encouraged me to pursue a wide range of experiences. KO kept its promise to my family and me.” His ability to build meaningful relationships and connect people to an organization’s mission will help strengthen support for KO in the years ahead.
Throughout the search process, both Brett and Sean impressed those who met them with their professionalism, thoughtfulness, and enthusiasm for the opportunities ahead. Their expertise and perspectives will add momentum to the important work already underway across our community.
