Hewett Day vs Renbrook School – Home

MS Boys Soccer

On a rainy Hewett Day, KO hosted Renbrook in what turned out to be an evenly matched, spirited game.

Both squads were on the younger side, as last year’s teams had numerous 8th graders (and some 9th graders for Renbrook) who have moved on to high school. In a match that had many momentum turns, KO emerged with a hard fought 2-1 victory. All three goals cam in the first half, as KO got on the board first as Upper Prepper Patrick O’Shaughnessy (‘25) slid the ball past the Renbrook goalie off a feed from Ignacio Feged (‘23). Renbrook tied it up shortly after on a fantastic strike from just inside the box, as the KO keeper had no chance. Renbrook did not score again in the half as our first half keeper, Mac Louis (‘23), patrolled the box and handled every ball well in the wet conditions. KO capped the half as O’Shaughnessy tallied his second goal, showing great composure off a rebound from Ignacio Feged’s strike (Assists went to Feged and Adam Cloud ‘23).

In the second half, both teams had opportunities but both teams’ goalies prevented any scores. The save of the match came from our 2nd half goalie, Will Jacobs (‘23), who went airborne to push a great shot just wide of the net. KO’s defense, anchored by Cole Banning (‘24) and Cooper Schumacher (‘23), held firm to secure the 2-1 win. Of note, Alex Levin (‘24) played a strong game at right back, along with all of his teammates who contributed with great effort. Everyone made an impact, whether it was in the back, the midfield, or up front. Next up is an away match at Wilbraham & Monson on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30.
