Soccer – Boys MS vs Eaglebrook School – Away
MS Boys Soccer
On Saturday, Sept. 22nd the Boys Middle School A Soccer team traveled to Deerfield, Mass. for a match against Eaglebrook.
Every year this game is competitive, and this year proved no different. The two squads were evenly matched, and the end result was a hard earned 2-2 tie as both teams had an equal number of scoring opportunities and control of the play. The first half saw KO control the play early, which lead to some decent scoring chances. The midfield was led by Ignacio Feged (β23) and Ethan Leshem (β23), and in the back Cole Banning (β24) and Cooper Schumacher (β23) anchored KOβs defense. Newcomer Alex Levin (β24), playing in the back, was also impressive. Even though the position is new to him, he played with confidence. The best scoring chances, however, belonged to Eaglebrook but KOβs goalkeeper, Will Jacobs (β23) made a couple of terrific saves, one of which was especially impressive as the ball looked like it was destined for the back of the net and he stretched out, airborne to push the ball wide. The half ended with a 0-0 score. In the second half, KO got on the board first as Christian Rivera (β23) fed a perfect ball across the box to Adam Cloud, Jr. (β23) who showed good composure to control the pass and push it over the goal line for a 1-0 KO lead. Eaglebrook responded with a fine goal that our keeper had no chance at, which knotted the game at 1-1. KO reclaimed the lead as Upper Prepper Patrick OβShaugnessy (β25) wove his way through the Eaglebrook defense and was tripped in the box to earn a PK for KO. Ignacio Feged calmly struck a fine kick to put KO in the lead 2-1. We held that lead until the final minute, in part due to yet another great save by Will Jacobs. However, a well delivered corner kick in the final minute led to the equalizer for Eaglebrook, and the match finished in a 2-2 tie. Because their tying goal was so late in the game, it felt a bit like a loss but the reality is that it was a hard earned tie, and a fair result based on the play of both teams. Of note, KO got key contributions from newcomer Nico Bradley (β25) and returner Jacob Joseph (β23) in the midfield, along with great effort other players new to the team, including Aayan Mapara (β25), Cole Ellis (β23), Finn Boyd (β24) and Arav Kumar (β23). The boys played really hard, showed great sportsmanship, and they should feel good about their effort and play.
