Volleyball – Girls JV vs Worcester Academy – Away

Win 2-1

KO JVVB played hard against Worcester Academy on Wednesday,, winning 2-1 (25-12, 23-25, 25-21). Serving was a key element of the team’s success, coupled with great offensive play. KO got off to a strong start in the first set on the service line, with Sienna DuBois ’26 serving 7 points to take an early 9-3 lead. Diya Mistri ’24 and Delphine Lamattina ’27 also stayed on the line for multiple points to help maintain that lead, and Aleis Gonzalez ’27, in the role of libero, had some beaugtiful defensive digs, covering a large portion of the court with speed and agility. The second set was a close one with KO having to fight back fron an early deficit. This time it was the strong serving of co-captain Julia Sohn ’25 that got KO back in the game. Sohn remained on the service line to bring the wyverns from 10-19 to 18-19. Selma Knutson ’27 had some great blocks in the middle during that second set, earning at least 1 kill. In the exciting third and final set, Danica De Dios ’27 hit effectively from the outside, and Diya Mistri ’24 was the strong server, serving from 18-19 to 22-19. Determination and grit made the difference at the end, as Lamattina came back to serve the final two points. Everyone worked to cover the court. The team is now 4-2, as we head into Hewett Day against Kent.
